According to tradition, they were created by chance in 1873 by the pharmacist De Vynck, who actually wanted to make a drug in syrup form more durable. Without further ado, he decided to market the tasty "failure" in confectionery form - with success. Today's Dutch manufacturer bought an original Belgian machine from the 1950s for its production. He now uses it to restore the cuberdons - according to the old recipe and with a fruity raspberry flavor.
