The Fleurs de Bagne Penitencier Pants are a vintage prisoner style workwear trouser made in France. With a wide leg fit, high waist, french pockets, and suspender buttons, these pants exude heritage styling. Done in a thick and robust moleskin, they can take a beating and will only get better with age. Moleskin itself is a historical fabric for work wear garments, originally made to be fireproof as it would protect miners and factory workers from burning embers. It became a symbol of the working class in Europe, and France especially with the Bleu de Travail, or workers blue color being synonymous with labor. The specific color, Prussian Blue, was devised by a Prussian chemist and is now linked closely to the French workwear garments of the 19th and 20th century.
