Abandoning the dialect has never been an option. You don't walk away from the linguistic backbone that shaped you.
Many of the old words in this book appear when they're needed—and often when they're not. I like to think of that as a form of public education.
My aim with this book is simple: to show that the dialect is not a curiosity for nostalgics, but a living language with both strength and elegance.
I make no claim to own the dialect. But I am proud to help carry it forward. If this book can make someone smile, recognize a piece of themselves, or start using an old word again, then I will have succeeded.
