The First iterations of the Red Wing Engineer Boots dates back to 1936, when the style was launched as their first ''pull-on'' boot, a style adept to those at home on horseback and hunting in the fields. By the 1940's, the boot got picked up for its rugged versatility and easy slip-on-slip-off style, with surveyors, and most iconic, engineers. Thus its namesake was born into the household name we call it today. As the 50's approached, the style once again took on new life, becoming popular with motorcycle riders-- think James Dean's iconic look with loose fitting jeans stacked on top of a pair of engineer boots.
The leather used is Red Wing's famous and long missed Black Klondike, a tea-core affect will develop and as the leather is made from a brown base crust with a black paint finish. The black paint will gradually wear off to reveal the brown color underneath, to create a great vintage look
