100% burel wool (820gr/m) from portugal and more precisely from the mountainous region of serra da estrela.
Made from pure virgin sheep wool, durable and very resistant, this wool was once used by shepherds to make warm and waterproof capes very useful for the harsh climatic conditions of the mountains of northern portugal.
The authenticity of burel results from a sequence of specific operations in the manufacturing process.
The wool after being sheared, washed, spun, put to the warps in the body and woven on the loom, walked on a machine called a fuller, beating and scalding wool transforming the fabric (sees) into the bag, which makes it more tight, tough and waterproof.
