In the Wrangler Archives book around 200 very special styles are highlighted in a visual presentation of the brand. Segmented in 11 different chapters it goes detailed through the history of the brand that kickstarted back in 1947 with the help of tailor Rodeo Ben Lichenstein, a designer of Western costumes in Hollywood. From the first pairs of 11MW jeans to champion jackets to a timeline of (embroidered) denim jackets and ranch jackets and shirts, to rodeo clown pants and Western shirts, to special hard-to-get Peter Max collab styles and patched Harley Davidson pieces and kids wear. The book covers perfectly the rich and long history of the nearly 80 years of Wrangler with items that you will see for the very first time.
The Story Of Rikiya Kanamaru
Rikiya Kanamaru first discovered the Wrangler brand at the young age of 17 while browsing a secondhand store in his neighborhood. The Western aesthetic immediately caught his eye, and now, 37 years later, he has built an impressive Wrangler archive. Initially, he had no plans to collect Wrangler or clothing in general, but his passion for vintage fashion grew naturally over time. As a full-time interior designer with an eye for detail, his love for vintage pieces eventually led him to open his shop, Gold Gate, in Kouenji. The store later relocated to Meidaimae Station, and today, he runs a showroom in Harajuku, an area famous for its vintage boutiques. With nearly four decades of dedication and expertise, Rikiya Kanamaru has become a true Wrangler aficionado, occasionally collaborating with Wrangler Asia for special conferences.
