Gävlebocken is a large Christmas goat made of straw on a wooden frame, which since 1966 has been set up on Slottstorget in Gävle before the first Sunday in Advent every year. During the 53 years that the goat has been set up on Slottstorget, it has remained more or less undamaged only 16 times. The goat has been burned 30 times and has sometimes been destroyed in other ways, including by breaking or being hit.
