Mustang Horsehide
Mustang horsehide is a premium leather sourced from wild Mustang horses, prized for its dense grain, rugged durability, and the way it molds to the wearer over time without compromising structure. Compared to traditional cowhide, it offers a tighter grain and firmer hand, making it a top choice for outerwear like motorcycle and workwear jackets that demand both form and function.
As it ages, horsehide tells a story — developing deep creases, subtle darkening, and a rich, lived-in patina. Unlike Shell Cordovan, horsehide features a more pronounced texture and resists fine scratches, though sharp or abrasive contact can still leave marks.
During the tanning process, horsehide is typically infused with oils and waxes, enhancing its natural water resistance. We recommend conditioning only when the leather shows visible signs of dryness — usually once or twice a year, depending on climate and frequency of wear. Use a neutral conditioner or balm sparingly: apply a small amount, work it in evenly, and buff thoroughly. Over-conditioning can soften the hide too much, compromising its distinctive structure and feel.
