This album is a sensation: the first release of the missing recordings from 1985 by hardcore legend DAG NASTY. In the original line-up with Shawn Brown on the microphone.
After playing concerts for only three months, Dag Nasty went to the Inner Ear Studio with Ian MacKaye. "Dag With Shawn" was recorded on Halloween 1985 with Shawn Brown on vocals. Initially the songs of this session were supposed to be released as 7 inch on Dischord, but shortly after the recordings Shawn Dag left Nasty and the tape was mothballed. In the spring of 1986 the band re-recorded the entire album with new singer Dave Smalley and released it under the name "Can I Say". Shawn went ahead and formed the very popular Swiz. Dag Nasty went through several line-up changes over the years. Dave Smalley was also replaced by singer Peter Cortner. These original recordings were previously only available as excerpts and on unauthorized bootlegs and were never published in full. This recording documents the early development of one of Washington?s most influential bands.
