Ray Campi and The Snappers with old recordings from way back in Fifties (The Rollin´ Rock stuff dated from the Seventies). Wonderfully re-mastered and as cool as ever. This CD comes with a booklet with loads of info and photos of old documents and stuff. If you like Ray Campi, this is a MUST! It´s actually a re-issue of an old Rollin´ Rock LP compilation with extra tracks and features Ray´s ´gimmick´ from the esarly days - that crazy finger snappin´ rockabilly sound. All songs were written by Ray himself with the exception of Chuck Berry´s ´You Can´t Catch Me´ and the classic ´Long Tall Sally´, done by Ray and his boys in strictly rockabilly style with some superb piano and guitar.
Backing line-up for the album: John Maddox on lead guitar; Henry Hill on bass; Bobby Reed and Tommy Griffith alternating on piano; ´Doc´ Shyrock doing the finger snapping and Harvey Campi (Ray´s brother) on bongos and helping out on vocals. The sound these guys created is great. When I tell you that everything was recorded with just one microphone in one take, without re-mixing or anything, it sounds unbelievable but it´s true.
Ray Campi in the liner notes: ´I hope you´ll enjoy the music with its blend of country and rock elements....´
This was also the very first Rollin´ Rock album, and what a goodie, featuring that crazy finger snappin´ rockabilly sound of Ray Campi. Fantastic stuff that will have all rockabilly lovers dancing on the ceilings in no time at all. All songs were written by Ray himself with the exception of Chuck Berry´s ´You Can´t Catch Me´ and the classic ´Long Tall Sally´, done by Ray and his boys in stricktly rockabilly style with some superb piano and guitar.
