About the book:
Almost every swedish artist have, since the beginning of the 50´s at one time or another, stood, sat or laid in front of Bengt H. Malmqvist´s Hasselblad. It was he - ´´The Court Photographer of the Record Companies´´ - who photographed Miles and Coltrane backstage at Konserthuset, the first swedish rockers 1957 - 1958, the lightblue, pink and white of the schlagerera, the lonhair-pop of Tages, Shanes and Mascots, then Cornelis and Fred, Robban, Peps, Pugh, ABBA, Eva Dahlgren, Noice, Roxette and hundreds more until about 1990.
The about 200 artist portraits in this book have been chosen out of three features who in each of them are combined in their different relativity of strength: graphicness, charm according to time and importance of the artist.
The photographs, from Ulla Sallert at home on Gärdet 1952 to Roxette in the TV-studio 1987, forms a hard to beat journeythrough 35 years of musicalic popular culture in Sweden. And a suggestiv exposé to say the least over as many years of styling.
Have Eva Dahlgren looked like that? could you get cooler than the young Rock-Ragge sitting on the floor of the studio 1958?
´´Stjärnornas Fotograf´´ is a fantastic coffetablebook about the legendary photographer Bengt H. Malmqvist.
