Classic swing in a new wrapping! At first I thought "this is not the sample of new swing that I would have made!". Being a firm believer in the "concept" of neo-swing and the cross-overs to ska, rockabilly, punk etc., I was at first sight disappointed by the selections here. I would have gone for a harder, more "on-the-edge" approach.
BUT when listening to the record, I was blown away - this is real music by real musicians! Loads of classic and new songs by extremely skilled song writers and performed by extremely skilled musicians and vocalists. The strength of these songs really stands the test of time - also the new ones ;o) - and it is lovely to have these new crisp versions.
Right now I am very much into Jennie Löbel, Gunhild Carling and Honeysucklerose, while the only song that I could have done without is Frosties Hot Four - don't mess with Frank...!
For dancers and listeners of (almost) all ages!
Oh, and not forgetting the very yummy packaging of the CD...!
If nothing else, buy this record to forget all your thoughts about burning your own sample CDs from your friends' collections - keep music alive!
