The Royal Crown Revue were one of the first post-punk bands to fall in for all things Swing. Taking their name from a hair-grease popularized in the 40’s, the band started out in Los Angeles in 1989, during a particularly barren spell in American Underground music. Their musical influences ranged from Louie DaPrima to Louis Jordon, but without any real contemporaries to Scene-bond with, RCR stood solitary as a modern Swing band.
