For guys who build their hot rods by getting dirt under their nails and a busted knuckle, rather than by whipping out a gold card.
Two guys that need no introduction to kustom fans or Traditional Rod & Kulture readers are John D’Agostino and Oz Welch. This talented pair of dedicated kustom innovators have teamed up once again to produce yet another stunning piece of reshaped American iron with their latest creation, The Egyptian, a 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88.
Adding to a consistent 40 year line of almost an equal number of kustom cars John started on his latest project with another low-mileage super clean original car (originally sold in Oakland, and spent a pampered life in the same area) and worked up a game plan to clean up the factory lines and make subtle changes where necessary.
John took the car and his plans over to Oz’s shop and first up on the to-do list was to lower the lid four inches as it should be. If you ever get a chance to look over any factory concept drawings from the 1950’s & 1960’s you will notice the lines are always longer and lower than the actual production models, and Oz perfectly performed the task of correcting what the factory sacrificed for “ergonomics” and even cut all the glass himself.
