14 Swing Era Songs of 1926-1939

Announcing - 'The Phantom Dancer' the new CD of 14 glamorous, swinging, vintage tunes from 1926-1939, sung and performed by Greg Poppleton & his Bakelite Dance Band.

Greg & the Bakelites are tops at what they do. In fact, Greg is Australia's only 1920s & 30s-style Swing singer. All of the Bakelites have toured with some of the top names in jazz around the world.

Recorded live in studio just like a real Swing Era radio transcription, the 'Phantom Dancer' is full of pep and vim.

From the first track to the last, Greg sings in the style of the vintage dance band crooners. Sounding straight out of the Swing Era, Greg and his Bakelite Boys will transport you to the glamour age of Fred & Ginger, gardenia purfume and dancing cheek-to-cheek. These are songs that are sure to put a smile on your dial - at home, in your car, or with friends.

Hear Montreaux Jazz Festival pianist Matt Baker back Greg on 'Do, Do, Do' and 'Would You Like To Take A Walk?'. Shimmy-sha-wobble to those hot drum breaks by Joel Davis at his vintage 1927 drums on 'Anything Goes' and 'Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen'. Peter Locke's piano from the New Wolverines (Bix Beidebecke specialists) on 'Two Sleepy People' is the last gasp! And swing out with Dieter Vogt, Bob Henderson and Paul Furniss on 'It's Only a Paper Moon' and 'South of the Border'.

What's more, you get a glossy 8-page booklet with each CD. Inside, you can read the history of all the songs. And see original Swing Era photos. Worth the price of admission alone!

"We have had it on constantly since we received it, and really like it" Jo Mainprize, Blue Mountains Swingkatz
