In 1969 Dennis Hopper directed cinema's most countercultural road trip, his seminal movie Easy Rider was a hippified piece of cultural criticism that would become part of the fabric of the late 20th-century movement. Chronicling a modern American odyssey, perpetuated by the ideals of the American Hippie subculture. 1969 would not only mark the end of the decade but also the demise of the hippie dream, as with the disillusionment inherent in Easy Rider, it all went to hell.
